Prime Minister and I

Gosh where do I begin with this drama. And no, I don’t mean that in a good way. I mean that in the “I seriously don’t know where to start with my list of complaints” way.

I know a lot of people are going to hate me for saying this but I’m going to say it anyways.

Over the last couple of months I have been keeping up with this drama in hopes that it would get better. Every week I would pray and hope for something worth watching. About halfway through though, I realized my prayers were in vain (sigh).

I was disappointed to say the least. I’m not going to lie though, I did enjoy the fist couple of episodes. It seemed like a light hearted and fun drama. Nothing too crazy like all these melodramas that seem to be popping out of nowhere. It was like a breath of fresh air at first. Let me accentuate the AT FIRST.

The drama starts out just like every other kdrama romantic comedy: lead male is successful, handsome, and has a tough exterior; lead female is beautiful, works hard at her job, and gets into trouble easily. My complaining begins around the 5th episode.

Now, as kdramas progress I expect to see a growth in the characters and their relationships. Of course not all at once, but something has to be happening to indicate that they are progressing. The whole story line was just, mmm what’s the right word, BLAH. Yes, I said blah. Everything that happened in the drama, even the supposedly big revelations, were just so boring. I blame the writers for this part. They made the characters have absolutely no passion. Like whatsoever!

Take the 2nd male lead for example. Normally, this character is supposed to be very passionate and emotional, especially towards the lead female. There’s supposed to be a love triangle between him, the lead female, and the lead male. But nope, well at least not one worth mentioning. You can tell Director Kang(2nd male lead) had huge feelings for Da Jung(lead female), but he gave up right when he found out she had feelings for the prime minister. I mean who does that? He didn’t even put up a good fight or anything. His feelings went from liking Da Jung, to even trying to keep her and the prime minister together. It’s such a shame. I felt like this character had the most potential.

^^^^Yoon Shi Yoon, best actor in this drama by far!

And then we have our main leads. My god I felt like rubbing my socks on the carpet created more sparks than these two did! There was absolutely no chemistry between them. Again I blame whoever was in charge of casting. I mean did they seriously think 2 people with a 20 year age gap was going to mesh well onscreen? Although there are some people who are together with that age difference, but the majority of people aren’t attracted to people with that much of an age gap. It could have worked if they had 2 amazing actors but we are talking about Im Yoon Ah here. I can’t speak for Lee Bum Soo as I haven’t seen much of his work, but in my opinion Yoon Ah isn’t that great of an actress. She’s beautiful I’ll give you that, but her performances never “wowed” me. They were always just “eh”.

My last complaint would have to be on the so called romantic relationship. Again, I blame the damn writers. Through out the whole drama I can’t recall one good kiss scene. It was all a whole bunch of elementary lip butting. It even took them work to just hold hands! My god even the high school dramas are better than this. I would let it slide for younger audiences but this is a 40 year old man we are talking about. With kids! The man has experienced it all and yet he can’t even move his lips and inch-_- In my opinion, Da Jung and Director Kang had way more chemistry together. I don’t think she ever looked as happy through out the entire drama then she was with Director Kang. I mean, just look.

I could go on and on about how bad this drama is but that would take me all night. Instead I’ll just leave it at that.
What did you guys think of this drama? Did you hate it as much as I did? Did you love it and hate me for writing this? Let me know in the comments below!:)

Answer Me 1994

answer me

Synopsis: Answer Me 1994 is a sequel to the earlier kdrama Answer Me 1997. As in the previous drama, the story is set in the 90’s around a group of friends as they discover friendships, hardships, and love.

Ok so I’ll start off by being honest and admitting that I was kinda putting this drama off at first. I’m not a fan of the whole 90’s fashion so as you can tell by the picture I wasn’t very intrigued. The only reason I decided to give it a try was because I needed something to watch in the meantime while waiting for other dramas that were currently airing. And let me tell you I am so glad I did:)

This drama had me hooked from the very first episode. The whole cast was absolutely hilarious! I especially loved the characters Na Jung (lead female) and the dad (Sung Dong Il). Na Jung weird, hot tempered, and flat out hilarious. She was a crazy girl obsessed with a basketball player and she wasn’t afraid to let anyone know either. I mean just take a look lol.

As for the dad…well I think these give enough explanation.

Answer Me 1994

Anyways, besides this drama being hilarious, I don’t think I’ve ever been so confused as to which character the main girl ends up with in the end. With every episode it makes you think it’s a different guy. And just when you are 99% sure your guess is right, they throw in something that makes you second guess yourself. Ugggghhhh just thinking about the whole thing makes me frustrated>:(

Is it trash oppa?

Maybe Chil Bongi?

Yep definitely Chil Bongi.

Wait nevermind maybe its trash??

Nope I’m for sure this time it’s definitely Chil Bongi!

Ok WTF is this!!!

I swear this love triangle gave me whip lash lol

Aside from my whining all this really shows is that the writers did a really good job in keeping us guessing. Major props.

Overall I give this drama 4 1/2 stars. My only complaint being that for some reason I think the writers changed the story half way through. I think originally she was supposed to end up with Chil Bongi. My reasoning being that when they showed hints of her husband, Chil Bongi’s figure was the same and when I read the synopsis online it said that it starred  Go Ah Ra(Na Jung) and Yoo Yun Sook(Chil Bongi). Shouldn’t it say it stars the 2 main leads??? Chil Bongi was also M.I.S. for many episodes which makes it even stranger why websites said he stars in it.

But besides by little banter, it’s an awesome kdrama to watch. I highly recommend it:)
